You will possibly have heard about the issues raised yesterday by several pilots ignoring the Lambing closures and taking off from Treak Cliff. The farmer was upset both by our failing to stick to our agreements and by the way she was spoken to by some of said pilots. On top of that it seems that several others were soaring close to Treak and even landed there.

Needless to say if we cannot adhere to our agreements we will lose them and then flying will become altogether more difficult and full of hassles. It has already taken a lot of time from involved members of the club to try to soothe things over and promise that this will not happen again but all will be in vain if it should!

At least part of the problem may be that we have failed to communicate effectively with our members over exactly which sites are closed and when, as we have currently only the updated map posted on gates (the National Park wants a minimum of such notices).

It seems clear that not everyone can or will take the time to understand the map so we are posting additional clear notices on all approaches to Treak and Longcliffe…

PLEASE make sure you are familiar with all of the stuff below and stick to the agreed closures…and if you see others, make sure that they are aware as well!!
