Talk – Routes from the Peaks on 6th August
The 6th August 2016 was a big XC day from the Peaks. Eleven paragliders flew more than 100k and several pilots reached the east coast. What was particularly interesting about this day was the range of routes taken as well as the variety of sites used.
On Sunday 18th September, Rich Carter, Chris Ashman and Ash Ghinn will present an interactive audiovisual analysis of the day. They each took off from Bradwell Edge and landed over 100km apart at the east coast. They will be covering the decisions they made before and during their flights, in order to explain why they took such different routes. The session is intended to be informal and everybody who attends, including other pilots who were out on that day, will be welcome to contribute to the discussion.
When: 19:00 – 22:00 on 18th September 2016
Where: Derbyshire Lancashire Gliding Club, The Cottage, Camphill Farm, Great Hucklow, Buxton SK17 8RQ
All are welcome. Please note that with advanced warning John Sconce can ensure that hot meals are available to anyone wanting one before the talk. If you’d like a meal, please let us know and if there’s enough interest we’ll ask John to organise it.
