Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Thank you again to our members for respecting the committee’s advice to refrain from flying at this time. We are proud that such a large group of keen and engaged pilots can avoid giving in to the temptation.
It is with regret that we cannot change the DSC committee’s stance to strongly advise you to not fly on our sites. This will continue until we have a more up to date announcement from the BHPA. We are in constant communication with them and our associated regional clubs to manage and monitor this situation.
We are a BHPA affiliated club and as such must follow their lead on these matters.
Two key points from the Government guidelines relevant to the DSC are:
- No organised gatherings of more than 2 people from separate households.
- All social distancing guidelines and law adhered to at all times.
In relation to gatherings, the DSC will not be organising any social events, training events, coaching sessions on the hillside or other such meetups of any kind until this situation changes.
As a committee our responsibility is to the club and its members first and foremost, and we must preserve and promote:
- Our pilots’ safety.
- The longevity of our access agreements.
We ask that our members keep these points in the forefront of their minds at this time in support of our decision, and the national and local sentiments in this trying situation we find ourselves in. The sky is always there.
Please appreciate that this is a constantly evolving situation, the restrictions will not be in place forever, and we will keep you up to date in relation to the impacts on freeflight in Derbyshire.
Thank you – The DSC Committee.
