Flying XC from the Peak District – 18th March @ 7pm
Cancelled – XC Talk at the DLGC on Wednesday 18th March.
Apologies everyone but due to the latest and revised government guidelines concerning Covid-19 Coronavirus this event is now cancelled. The committee apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The Event:
Aimed at all budding XC paraglider pilots, whether you are determined to fly 100k this year or you’ve yet to leave the hill. With the help of Milton Turner, Guy Richardson and others, I’m planning an evening that will be educational, fun and (most importantly) inspiring!
The talk will cover weather, planning, reading clouds, finding your limits, dealing with nerves, getting the most from low performance gliders, thermalling technique, airspace, tips on hitching and lots of anecdotal stories about what not to do!
Location:
DLGC, Camphill Farm, Great Hucklow, SK17 8RQ.
Ash Ghinn:
“I absolutely love the adventure of XC on a paraglider. I came to the Peaks in 2008 and started going XC that year. I soon became an addicted “hill bum” – living on a shoestring to serve my addiction and organising my life so I could be out every flyable day. Flown some proper dodgy gliders over the years and always lived on a super-tight budget, but been hugely blessed by many generous people over the years and much of my kit has been given to me. I’ve flown 14 100k+ flights from Derbyshire, many on low end gliders and still passionately love flying cross country, and enjoy the art of getting back almost as much! Over the years I’ve worked in several paragliding schools and enjoy being an active local senior coach”.
