Hi Everyone!

I have just passed my CP with Steve Hudson so now seems like a good time to introduce myself to the forum since I will soon be out unsupervised on the hills!

Here is what I look like:

My main priorities for this year are to get lots of safe flying hours to increase my confidence and hopefully and get some top landings in as I didn’t manage to complete these as part of my CP. If any club coaches see me out on the hill and don’t mind talking me down for my first one that would be greatly appreciated. Further down the line I hope to be able to complete some decent XC flights.

I am currently flying a yellow and orange MacPara Muse 2. If you see me doing anything dangerous or have advice for me please do not hesitate as I will be more than happy to receive the advice or constructive criticism.

Outside of paragliding I own a small software development company and have a small family with a couple of daughters of primary school age.

Hope to meet some more of you on this hill and apologies in advance if I have to ask your name several times!

Ross

Hi Ross, well done on passing your CP and welcome to the DSC!

Good idea to post your pic so us club coaches and others can recognise you and help you on the hill. Although coaches always take a keen interest in helping any pilots we see with a red streamer.

As regards top landings, you're absolutely right that you should only attempt your first one after getting a thorough briefing from a coach. Although you haven't managed to do one in the school, you will have been taught the theory of top landings during your CP, and will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of top landings and potential issues before attempting your first one. So, read up all you can about them. There is a very good article in the Safety Articles section of DSC Coach Nigel Page's "50K or Bust" website here:

See you on the hill.

Andy

Hi Ross,

Met you on the Mam Tor with Steve last Wednesday, in waiting mode :-). Looked pretty good ground handling at Windy Knoll (better than me - but I am rubbish). Later I few Treak for first time which was interesting then Mam Tor, good take off - bad landing. Hope to see you again soon.

Hi Andy, thanks for the link. There are some great tips on Nigel's site!

Hi Chris, nice meeting you the other day. Yep, everything was going well when you guys were around but later it got a bit gusty in windy knoll and I started to struggle a bit too. After being picked up for the third time I decided time to call it a day!

Look foreword to seeing you both on the hill soon!
