Turn Directions and Observations

Flying last Friday 13th Sept on Bradwell, I witnessed a number of pilots thermalling both directions in the same or converging thermals. There were several close calls due to the conflicting directions and lack of good observations made by the offending pilots. I also moved out of a thermal to avoid a pilot who flew out from the ridge directly at and below the thermal I was in to be hoofed up his wing just missing my feet. On the day there were plenty of sources of often strong lift and there was no need to fly so close or dive into single sources of lift.

Perhaps it is time to set a single turn direction on busy sites?

Meanwhile please make good observations when flying in company, be careful joining thermals and from the edge and remember to look all around including above you.

Needless to say I don't enjoy flying with aggressive pilots and left the bun fights.
